GP and clinician visits

Senior health assessment

A 90-minute home review answering how a parent is really managing.

From £250

This is not an emergency service. If someone has chest pain, stroke signs, severe breathing difficulty, heavy bleeding or collapse, call 999 or go to A&E. We work alongside the NHS, not instead of it.

This is not 999

This is a planned assessment, not an emergency visit. If someone has collapsed, has stroke signs, or is seriously unwell, call 999.

About this service

Every family reaches the quiet worry: is mum really managing? This assessment answers that properly. A senior clinician spends about 90 minutes at home reviewing health, memory, medicines, nutrition, falls risk and home safety, then produces a plain-English written plan: what to change now, what to watch, and when to review.

Who it is for

Families noticing decline in a parent, anyone after a first fall, a bereavement or a hospital scare, and people who need an independent picture of care needs.

Is this right for me?

  • You are arranging care for a parent from a distance
  • There has been a first fall, a hospital scare, or a sudden change
  • You want one written plan instead of a pile of opinions

Working alongside your NHS team

We do not replace your NHS GP, district nurse, consultant or A&E. We add private capacity at home. If you already have an NHS package, tell us so we do not duplicate or confuse the plan.

What we help with

  • Health, memory, mood and independence screening
  • Falls risk, nutrition and continence checks
  • Medication burden review
  • A home-safety walkthrough

What happens during the visit

  • Unhurried history with the person and, if they agree, with family
  • Structured checks rather than a chat on the doorstep
  • A walk through the home looking at practical risks
  • A written plan before we leave or shortly after

What is included

  • A structured 90-minute review by a senior clinician
  • Health, memory, mood and independence screening
  • Falls-risk, nutrition and continence checks
  • Medication burden review

Who delivers your care

A senior clinician from the Friends Medical team, with GP support if the findings need a doctor the same day.

Pricing

From-price for a structured 90-minute senior clinician assessment at home. Confirmed before we visit. Further visits and tests are priced separately.

After your visit

You keep the written plan. With consent we can share it with the NHS GP. If live-in care, nursing or a GP home visit is the next step, we say so plainly.

Where we cover

Home visits across Lurgan, Craigavon, Portadown and Banbridge as core cover, with Lisburn, Armagh, Dungannon and Belfast arranged with a travel note. Call with a postcode and we will confirm. A family member can book if the patient consents to be seen.

FAQs

Is this a diagnosis of dementia?

No. It is a structured review. If memory needs a specialist opinion, we will say so and help with the next step. We do not diagnose dementia in a single private visit and then leave you with a label.

Can a son or daughter book this without the parent knowing?

The person being assessed should consent to be seen. A family member can enquire and arrange, but we will not examine someone who has refused.
