Prescriptions, sick notes and referrals
These are GP-led admin services, not a shop. We only issue a private prescription, fit note or referral when it is clinically justified. Book the appointment length that matches the conversation.
Alongside the NHS, not instead of it. Keep your NHS GP. Call 999 in an emergency. Friends Medical GP is for planned private appointments and home visits that are not emergencies.
Private prescriptions
A private GP can issue a private prescription when it is appropriate. You pay the pharmacy, not an NHS prescription charge. Some medicines cannot be issued in a one-off private consultation. We will tell you if that is the case.
Sick notes and fit notes
Fit notes for work can be written when the GP has assessed you. Bring details of your employer’s requirements. We will not backdate a note for a period we cannot honestly cover.
Referrals
Referral letters to consultants, imaging and the wider Friends Medical Service team are part of this work. If the right next step is an NHS pathway, we will say so rather than selling a private detour.
