A GP home visit is not an emergency service. If someone has severe difficulty breathing, severe chest pain, is unconscious, has signs of a stroke (face drooping, arm weakness, slurred speech), severe bleeding, or is seriously unwell, call 999 immediately.
About this service
When you or someone you love cannot get to clinic, a GP can come to you. A home visit is an unhurried consultation in familiar surroundings: the doctor listens, takes a full history, examines you, explains what is happening in plain language, and agrees a plan before leaving. If you need medication, tests at home, a referral or follow-up care, we arrange it there and then. Same-day visits may be available, subject to a clinician being free and your postcode.

Housebound and frail patients, families arranging care for a parent, care-home residents, and anyone recovering at home who needs a proper medical review without travelling.

Working alongside your NHS team
We do not replace your NHS GP, district nurse, consultant or A&E. We add private capacity at home. If you already have an NHS package, tell us so we do not duplicate or confuse the plan.

What happens during the visit
- The GP confirms who they are and why they are there
- They take a history and examine you where appropriate
- You agree a plan: treatment, tests, a nurse visit, or watchful waiting
- Paperwork, prescriptions and letters follow after the visit

- Diagnosis and a clear treatment plan, explained in plain language
- Private prescription issued where needed, sent to your pharmacy
- Referral letters and coordination with specialists where appropriate
- With your consent, a summary shared with your NHS GP
- Immediate escalation and hospital arrangement if you are sicker than expected
Who delivers your care
A GMC-registered GP from the Friends Medical team. Nursing follow-up can be booked if the plan needs dressings, injections or monitoring.

From-price for a standard home visit in our core coverage area. Travel beyond that is confirmed before we set out.
After your visit
You receive a clear summary of what was found and what to do next. If tests are needed, we arrange home bloods or point you to the Friends Medical Service clinic in Lurgan.
Where we cover
Home visits across Lurgan, Craigavon, Portadown and Banbridge as core cover, with Lisburn, Armagh, Dungannon and Belfast arranged with a travel note. Call with a postcode and we will confirm. A family member can book if the patient consents to be seen.
