Diagnostics at home
Rapid testing at home
Bedside results in minutes so treatment decisions happen in the room.
From £80
This is not an emergency service. If someone has chest pain, stroke signs, severe breathing difficulty, heavy bleeding or collapse, call 999 or go to A&E. We work alongside the NHS, not instead of it.
About this service
Some answers cannot wait for a lab van. Rapid testing gives results in minutes at the bedside, infection markers (CRP), haemoglobin, INR for warfarin patients, and glucose, so decisions like “does this need antibiotics?” are made in the room. Formal laboratory bloods remain available as a home blood test or at Friends Medical Service.
Is this right for me?
- Someone is unwell and the result would change treatment today
- Warfarin patients needing INR without a clinic trip
- Diabetes reviews where a glucose reading is part of the visit
Working alongside your NHS team
We do not replace your NHS GP, district nurse, consultant or A&E. We add private capacity at home. If you already have an NHS package, tell us so we do not duplicate or confuse the plan.
What we help with
- CRP and infection decisions
- INR monitoring
- Glucose checks
- Haemoglobin when anaemia is the question
What happens during the visit
- Finger-prick or venous sample as appropriate
- Result during the same visit
- A decision and a safety-net
What is included
- Rapid tests at home
- Results within minutes during the same visit
- Immediate clinical interpretation
- A plan, including hospital if the result says so
Who delivers your care
A nurse or GP trained to take and interpret the tests we offer. We will not pretend a finger-prick replaces a full lab panel.
Pricing
From-price for rapid tests taken during a home visit. The visit fee may sit on top if a nurse or GP is not already there. Confirmed before we start.
After your visit
If the result is worrying, we act that day. Full laboratory tests still have a place and we will say when they are needed.
Where we cover
Home visits across Lurgan, Craigavon, Portadown and Banbridge as core cover, with Lisburn, Armagh, Dungannon and Belfast arranged with a travel note. Call with a postcode and we will confirm. A family member can book if the patient consents to be seen.
FAQs
Is this the same as a full home blood test?
No. Rapid tests answer a small number of urgent questions. Home blood tests sent to an accredited lab remain the right choice for wider panels. Clinic diagnostics stay with Friends Medical Service.
